My recent labs have shown that i have low E2 but my bioavailable E is within normal range. Should i be concerned about it? I am starting to feel a lot better on my HRT and TRT which is androgel 7.5ml and synthroid/cytomel combo 88mcg/25mcg. My endo and a fertility doctor i went to see seem to think that i should not be concerned about it but you can't always be sure about doctors knowledge anymore. The only negative i can seem to relate E levels is my skin is a lot drier than it used to be. Thanks.

keep an eye out for depression, fatique, infertility, osteoporosis, lower hdl, higher ldl, low serotonin. anxiety. Surpirisingly many of the symptoms of too high E2 are similar to too low E2.

Well, i did find out i do have infertility which is why i went to a fertility doctor to see about hcg. Since i am young i do not plan on children for many years and after a nice consultation with the doctor about the possible risks and benefits. i decided to keep with my current treatment and when i want children look into hcg. I know there is a possible chance that with long term HRT that i might not be able to ever be fertile but i am taking that small chance. As far as the other symptoms i have great HDL and really low LDL right now as i just had a lipid panel done. As far as the other symptoms i ocassionally get depressed or have anxiety but nothing requiring medication. I have a little extra fatigue at times but i am also still trying to get my thyroid medications dialed in. I would like to know my serotonin levels though.

Thanks for the feed back and i will keep an eye on these things.

the following is a referral to a company that tests neurotransmitters. It MAY be useful to assessment. Just remember that these values are not the central values. For instance, dopamine levels may be consistent or correlated with the level in the spinal fluid. This may be at variance with dopamine levels in the brain in general and in those areas of brain relative attentional problems, for instance.

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out.
Dr John
You might ask your doctor to run a urine assay for N teleopeptide. If it is elevated, that is a sign of loss of bone mineralization due to low estrogen.
magic8989
When i first went there way back in october they did a bone density scan and it came back fine.
Dr John
Unfortunately, that does not tell you what is going on AT THIS TIME with respect to bone mass gain or loss. In fact, it is useless to perform bone densitometry at intervals less than a year and a half.

Hypogonadism is a significant cause of osteoporosis in young males.
magic8989
Hmm.. i did not now that. Thank you for the information and correcting. I will have my endo run the urine assay for N teleopeptide at my next appointment.

E2 has been shown to be one of the best neuroprotective/antiinfamatory agents in the brain. In men it spontaneously occurs through aromatization of androgens. in one study done by Lavale University in Quebec, ovarianectomized rats administered a drug which causes spontaneous death of dopamine transporter neurons in the substantia nigra of the barin (read Parkinson's Disease) were split into two groups - those who were administered E2 and those who weren't. The ones that were administere E2 resisted the effects of the drug of over 15 hours. in a simialr study chronic E2 administration to the rats who had their DAT neurons detroyed caused DAT neuron sprouting and a significant DAT neuron density increase. I feel strongly that men need healthy levels of E2 or brain degeneration is right around the corner.

Wow. Its been awhile since i made that post. Thanks for the info though triceptor. Since that time my estrogen has increased to 29 with a reference range of 15-30. I can never remember the units. I have been controlling it from going higher since i was at the very top levels of total T and free T with DIM/Indoplex and TMG which seems to be doing something. I just recently switched to the shots so i wait and see what happens.

add a little ginger extract to your diet - minimum of 5% gingerols. Its been shown to reduce COX enzyme expression and that has been show to reduce aromatase enzyme expression. Its part of the P450 Cytochrome enzyme cascade. Also ginger extract reduces whole body inflamation and is highly chemo-protective. Two good things all by themselves. wink.gif

Thanks. Ill give that a try to add to my arsenal. As of right now i think things are ok though. Next time i go to my doc i am going to ask to get a prescription for an AI just in case cuz without a script it is too damn expensive.
